“Raising the school leaving age to 90”, a programme produced by Exeter based DevonAir radio, has been chosen as Britain’s entry in a prestigious international competition for educational programmes.
The eight week series of programmes, devised by disc jockey Tim Arnold, will be entered in the Japan awards competition in Tokyo in November. Tim, also media liaison officer for Devon education authority has pioneered the use of radio as a means of earning outside schools and colleges. This series is designed to encourage people to return to education, no matter what their age or handicap.
DevonAir managing Director David Cousins said: “We are extremely proud of our educational output. The learning process should never end and this series has held every one from housewives to pensioners to realise there is no reason why they should lose touch with the education process.”
