Traders decide what they want from radio

PAIGNTON Chamber of Trade, who were asked by the IBA to submit their views on a local radio station, last night made their final decisions.

Points and ideas included were:

  • Advertising in Torbay kept separate from the twin area, Exeter.

  • Time set aside for local information.

  • Police call.

  • Advice for pensioners.

  • Children’s programmes.

  • Coverage of Minority interests.

  • Not dominated by pop music.

The IBA are expected to make their decision as to who will get the franchise for a twin radio station in Torbay by the end of July.

The main competitors are Radio Haldon, Riviera Radio and Bay City Radio.
