The applications are invited for the local radio programme contract for the Exeter and Torbay area under the terms of the Independent Broadcasting Authority Acts 1973 and 1978. The document containing particulars, including the coverage maps, and details of the information required from applicants may be obtained on written request from the Secretary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, 70 Brompton road, London SW3 1EY. The contract will be to December 31, 1981 in the first instance. The length and nature of extensions of the contract after that date will depend on decisions taken in the light of legislation extending the Authority’s term of operation beyond 1981.
Applications should reach the Secretary of the Authority not later than noon on Wednesday, May 30, 1979.
Local Newspaper Participation In Local Radio Programme Contractors
Section 18 of the Independent Broadcasting Authority Act 1973 provides for newspaper proprietors, where appropriate conditions are fulfilled, to be given the opportunity to acquire, on terms provided by the Authority, interests in the local radio programme contractor for the locality in which there newspaper or newspapers circulate. The Independent Broadcasting Authority by this notice requests the proprietors of newspapers in the Exeter Torbay area who consider themselves eligible for consideration under Section 18 of the Independent Broadcasting Authority Act, and who wish to be considered, to make application (with supporting data) not later than Friday, May 4, 1979. The Authority will not be able to consider representations received after that date. The description of the transmission area may be obtained, on written request, from the Secretary of the Authority.
