Battle begins for air waves
MEMBERS of the Independent Broadcasting Authority will visit Exeter and Torbay next week to hold preliminary interviews with the three sets of applicants for the contract to provide an Independent local radio service. Further interviewing will take place in London later.
Applications for the Exeter/Torbay contract have been received by the authority from Bay City Radio, Radio Haldon (Devonair) and Riviera Radio.
The authority is holding two open meetings at 7 pm on Monday, to hear direct from local people what views they have on the needs of the areas, and what particular local points should be noted before the contractor is chosen. They will be at Oldway Mansion, Paignton, and St George’s Hall, Exeter.
